Announcement 4 - Making a Difference

Ten years ago, we made a commitment that our indie publishing house was going to do two things: 1) publish and uplift authors often overlooked by the bigger publishers to create a more equitable bookshelf for everyone and 2) support and build community so every Furious Reader has an opportunity for a sustainable reading experience.

Throughout the years, we’ve worked with many wonderful organizations to create a brighter corner of the publishing world. Our authors have made this commitment to their communities and to the causes we support as well - allowing us to do good work wherever we (and our books!) happen to be. 

With each sale we make, 5 - 10% of the proceeds are set aside to support community engagement and various organizations working towards helping to build an equitable and sustainable reading journey. You can read more about the causes we support here.

Since Read Furiously’s early days, an important part of our work lies within literary activism, which we define as using the act of reading to make a difference, inspire movements, and to keep people informed and empathetic. We have included a “Literary Activism” page to our website where we will share news, information guides, and resources on how we can all give back to our communities and push for change. We hope you take the pledge to help us make sure everyone has the right to read.
