What We Love

Black Dog Books is one of those bookstores you could easily get lost in for hours. And I say that as someone who actually did get lost in it for hours when I went to visit. When you first enter, it’s incredibly welcoming and open - you can tell the store puts a lot of care into crafting its shelves and displays to be the perfect reader oasis. The more I walked around exploring the stacks, the more I discovered there was to uncover. From well curated selections of all different types of books, to hand crafted accessories by local artists. There were even hidden bookshelves tucked behind the checkout area, and quiet reading nooks where folks can sit and unwind for a bit to look over their potential selections.

The excitement around exploring Black Dog Books doesn't just stop with its selection and curation, throughout the shop it's easy to see the care it's put into making itself a part of its community. Black Dog Books has a dedicated section for local authors and hosts book clubs as well as author events. There's even a monthly open mic nights where folks are invited to share their work with others.
