Howling Basset Books
45 North Main Street
Lambertville, NJ (Entrance on Coryell St)
Owners Zohar Kfir and Lisa Lynch, with no prior bookstore experience, first opened Howling Basset in Oldwick, NJ in 2022. Attracted to Lambertville by the size of its community and its need for a general-interest indie bookstore, they relocated to Lambertville, at 45 North Main Street (entrance around the corner on Coryell)...
…And yes, there’s a basset. Zohar and Lisa adopted Fern as the bookstore mascot as a puppy. She’s now two years old, does not howl, and is a big sweetheart, ready to greet visitors.
The shop hosts three book clubs, one of which, “Reading Between the Lines,” is co-hosted with Gay Social New Jersey, and “Wednesday Words,” a creative writing workshop led by a local author every two weeks. There are also frequent author and artist events. The shop, warm and cozy (and don’t forget Fern!), is fast becoming a community gathering place, open Thursday through Sunday.
~ Bill Hemmig, author of Americana: Stories and Brethren Hollow
