Sequential Underground is a monthly subscription box that focuses on a portable reading experience. Every month, each box will include:

•  a pocket-sized book (no more than 5” x 7”, smaller than a trade paperback)
•  a companion zine to this month’s book
•  2-4 reading accessories 
• access to our online community and other digital materials to enhance your reading experience

Sequential Underground’s subscription will have a series of tiered pricing:

• 1 Month: $42 per box - this is for a single purchase box, perfect for gifts or to try out our subscription box
• 3 Months:  $120 - this is for a three month subscription, offering 5% off and $40 per box
• 6 Months: $222 - this our best offer for a six month subscription, offering 12% off and $37 per box

This is one of our favorite questions! We love to read, but we also recognize that it can be challenging to find time to read and/or finish a book. With pocket-sized books, you can bring a book with you wherever you go in an easy, convenient package. This allows you to make time for reading and provides a better alternative to looking at your phone. Reach your reading goals AND carry a cute travel companion in the shape of a pocket-sized book? Yes, please!

While many subscription boxes focus on a monthly theme, we choose the pocket-sized book first and then build a box around the book. Our books are chosen using a very specific criteria, created for the Sequential Underground subscription box:

• The book must be pocket-sized, meaning no bigger than a trade paperback and under 300 pages
• The book must contain a narrative or story
• The book should be published recently which allows us to purchase the book new rather than as used, secondhand, or a publisher’s remainder

The curators at Sequential Underground have had two decades of publishing and bookselling experience, making us avid readers who are passionate about uplifting books that are often overlooked due to their smaller size. Every book is chosen carefully and intentionally in order to provide you with a full reading experience every month. 

We want to create a special experience for you every quarter. Included with the portable book for the month are reading accessories and tools from independent artists. We do not believe in stocking our subscription box from big box or discount stores, so instead we have built relationships with independent artists that focus on handmade items, sustainable practices, and/or give back to their community. As makers ourselves, we will even include items that we’ve made in-house that also follow these principles. 

Each month, the Sequential Underground subscription box will include:

• A companion to the monthly book in the form of a high-quality, artistic zine
• A reading affirmation card designed in-house by Sequential Underground
• A tool to create a better reading experience
• A reading accessory to celebrate the amazing reader that you are!
• A digital community and digital downloads for you to enjoy all month long as you read your pocket-sized book

While we intend to find portable and pocket-sized books that are often overlooked by the larger bookstores and reading lists, we do understand that great minds may think alike! If this happens, we alway believe that paying books forward helps make the reading experience equitable for everyone. Donating to the Little Free Library program or sharing with a friend are always a great way for a book to find its reader. 

An important part of Read Furiously's mission is to encourage equity and a sustainable reading journey for everyone - that includes the environment. We have partnered with Shopify Planet and EcoEnclose to ensure all orders placed through the Read Furiously Book Shop will be shipped completely carbon neutral using recyclable packaging materials. Our monthly subscription boxes will be packaged using EcoEnclose, a shipping and packaging company that specializes in sustainable packaging. The box, tissue paper, and inserts can all be recycled curbside, making sure you enjoy your items while keeping the planet healthy for future storytellers! 

Read Furiously is our parent company, an independent publishing house based in New Jersey. Through their published titles and community efforts, their goal is to cultivate a reading relationship with fellow “Furious Readers,” those that believe that reading can be both a leisure activity and a form of literary activism. 

The Perfect Pair is a quarterly subscription box that arrives in January, April, July, and October. The billing and shipping schedule is below:

Q1 January (Winter box)

• Opt-out date November 25th 
• Payment comes out December 1st 
• Boxes ship January 1st-7th

Q2 April (Spring box)

• Opt-out date February 25th
• Payment comes out March 1st
• Box ships out April 1st-7th

Q3 July (Summer box)

Q4 October (Autumn box)

• Opt-out date August 25th
• Payment comes out September 1st

Annual subscription options are billed once per year. Your Perfect Pair subscription box will arrive at the beginning of each quarter. Your subscription will auto-renew unless canceled. To cancel or pause your subscription, please contact bookshop@readfuriously.com. 

For recurring subscriptions, subscribers will be billed quarterly or annually using their chosen payment method. Your subscription will auto-renew unless cancelled.

We accept all major credit cards, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Shop Pay, Meta Pay, Amazon Pay, and Diners Club.

Quarterly subscriptions will be billed the month prior to the box's shipping. Annual subscription options are billed once per year. Your subscription will auto-renew unless canceled. To cancel or pause your subscription, please contact bookshop@readfuriously.com.

At this time, we only ship to the continental United States, Alaska, and Hawai'i. We hope to add more locations as we grow. 

Absolutely! We do offer past boxes for single purchase while supplies last. It’s a great way to see what the Perfect Pair has to offer or to purchase a gift for the reader in your life.

Regular orders and subscription orders are shipped separately. Subscription orders ship on a set date, and keeping the two separate allow for us to send your regular orders in a timely manner.
