This coin is made of solid copper, struck in the USA using antique machinery and traditional coining techniques from Shire Mint Post. Shire Mint Post is a women, LGBTQ+ owned company based in Arkansas. Their reading coins were featured on PBS, Time.com, Art Insider, Geek.com.
We featured this coin in our very first Sequential Underground subscription box, “Here Be Dragons,” and it has been a Furious Reader favorite ever since. It’s a beautiful coin with a nice heft to it, making it the perfect accessory for cozy reading season.

Told in an epistolary style through postcards, this correspondence chronicles the friendship between Joni and Cassie. Using the coast, the waves, and, of course, aggressive seagulls, it’s a thoughtful imaginative look at growing up.
Shouting at Seagulls zine is written and created by Portland Button Works Portland Button Works is based in Portland, OR and specializes in handmade zines, buttons, magnets, and hand mirrors. One of the authors, Alex Wrekk, is known for their zine about zines, Stolen Sharpie Revolution.
